The Union Cabinet has approved the PMSurya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana with a total outlay of ₹75,021 crore. This ambitious scheme aims to install rooftop solar systems and provide free electricity up to 300 units per month to one crore households.
The scheme aims to add 30 GW of rooftop solar capacity, generating 1,000 billion units (BUs) of electricity over a 25-year period. It will help reduce 720 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability.
With around 17 lakh direct jobs projected in manufacturing, logistics, sales, installation, and other sectors, the PMSurya Ghar scheme will boost the economy and foster employment growth.
The PMSurya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana reflects the government’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability. By reducing electricity costs and encouraging solar adoption, the scheme will benefit both households and the environment, driving India's clean energy transition.
